Accessibility statement

Mamashi's accessibility statement: what we did, how we tested, known limitations, and how to reach the Mamashi team at getmamashi@gmail.com.

Short answer: We want everyone to be able to use Mamashi, including people with disabilities. The site was built to WCAG 2.1 level AA and tested with automated tools and keyboard navigation. Having trouble? Write to us at getmamashi@gmail.com.

Accessibility level

The site aims to meet the Israeli Equal Rights for Persons with Disabilities (Service Accessibility Adjustments) Regulations, 2013, and Israeli Standard IS 5568, which is based on WCAG level AA. We developed the site to WCAG 2.1 level AA.

How we tested

  • Automated tests: every page type on the site, in Hebrew and English and in desktop and mobile views, was tested with axe-core (no issues found) and with the Lighthouse accessibility audit (score 100).
  • Keyboard: we checked Tab navigation on the main pages to make sure every link, button and field receives focus with a visible focus outline.
  • We ran these tests ourselves. The site has not yet been audited by an external accessibility consultant, and has not been tested manually with a screen reader.

What we did

  • The site can be used with a keyboard alone, and the Tab key shows a clear focus outline.
  • Every page starts with a “Skip to content” link.
  • Text colour contrast is at least 4.5:1.
  • Article text is at least 17 pixels.
  • Images that carry information have alt text. Decorative images are hidden from screen readers.
  • Page language and direction (Hebrew right-to-left, English left-to-right) are set in the code, and English passages inside Hebrew pages are marked with their own language.
  • Headings follow a logical hierarchy, and every page has marked navigation and content regions.
  • Illustrations and demos (for example a sample chat) are labelled “Illustration”. When a demo repeats text already on the page, it is hidden from screen readers so it isn’t read twice.
  • If you turned on “reduce motion” in your operating system, you won’t see animations.
  • Calculator results are announced to screen readers when they update.
  • The cookie notice has three buttons of equal weight (accept, reject and settings). The settings dialog opens and closes with the keyboard, Esc closes it without saving a choice, and focus returns to where you were. The notice does not hide the page content.
  • The question form fields (in articles, guides and on the contact page) have visible labels. Required fields are marked, error messages are linked to their field and announced to screen readers, focus moves to the first field that needs fixing, and the thank-you message is announced too.
  • Videos are hosted on the site itself, with the browser’s standard playback controls and Hebrew captions.

Known limitations

  • Video captions are burned into the picture, so they can’t be turned off or resized or recoloured. The videos have no audio description.
  • Video narration and captions are in Hebrew only.
  • Articles link to external sites (official sources and vendors). Their accessibility is outside our control.

If you run into a problem that isn’t listed here, we’d like to hear about it.

Physical accessibility

Mamashi is a website only. We have no office or premises open to the public.
